If you're looking for a festive, party atmosphere, we can guarantee it during our annual events. You can expect a moderate crowd with a wide variety of group rides and activities, and our sponsors always supply us with plenty of prizes and swag! We do often limit enrollment to avoid overcrowding the trails and to help maintain the personal quality of your experience. Great music, fantastic food, swimming, and excellent small group rides are the cornerstones of each of our events. Back in June 1996, Gunnar Shogren was here and commented in his column (Dirt Rag #53) that the trails here are just perfect for group mountain riding. So get some friends together and head up to Maine, come by yourself and join one of our groups, or pack up the family and enjoy the fun -- we always aim to please! On the major
Holiday Weekends of Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and
Columbus Weekend we always have something happening! Often old
friends returning and new groups joining. These weekends happen to be
an excellent time to get acquainted with our kind of mountain bike vacation.
Expect plenty of fun and guided group rides for all levels. And if you
want to try your hand at other activities, there's plenty of great water
around for canoeing, tubing, or swimming. |

Costa
Rican Mountain Biking Adventures February 17-25. Join us for 4 days
in the lush, steeply terraced, coffee plantations of the Orosi Valley then
further east for 5 more days to the Calypso Carribean coast to continue
our mt biking adventures.
We'll hop the jet and fly right to the capitol, San Jose, which will be
our port of entry and departure. Here we'll all rondevous at our favorite
spot Hotel Aranjuez and get to meet all the rest of our buddies on this
one of a lifetime adventure. Just
when you thought that the magic of summer was over for another year it comes
around again. Costa Rica is basking in summer and its the perfect climate
for mountain biking adventures. So instinctively when its ffing cold up
here we ESCAPES to the lush tropics of Central America. Beaches, mountains,
jungles -- WHAT MORE COULD WE ASK FOR??!!The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is a virtual Eden: 85 degree days under painted, cloudless skies, sparkling ocean waters washing on white sand beaches, a plethora of tropical wildlife, and INCREDIBLE off-road mountain biking trails, some cutting through the jungles and others following palm-treed shorelines. ![]() SPEND NINE FANTASTIC DAYS IN PARADISE WITH B.C.E. AS YOUR GUIDE. With us, you'll be introduced to the REAL Costa Rica; we've scoped out dozens of exciting trails, discovered secret snorkeling pools, mapped out awesome hiking paths, and memorized the menus at the best 'tico sodas' (local restaurants). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| DAYS
1-5 will be spent on the beautiful Caribbean coast. We
will be biking from the village of Cahuita all the way to Manzanillo on
combination ocean front/jungle trails and seldom-traveled roads. Our highlight
here will be a 7km single tract trail starting at the Kelley Creek Entrance
to Cahuita National Park and winding back and forth from beach into jungle
culminating at Puerto Vargus Station. In addition this coastal route offers
many attractive beaches, a rain forest/jungle filled with many easily observed
wildlife species, and the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Refuge, which is the
only place in the country where there is a living coral reef with easy access.
Good snorkling to be found here for sure. There's also a 13.5 km coastal
hiking trail to Gandoca, all the way to the Panamanian border. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
DAYS
6-9 will find
us in the breathtaking Orosi Valley, famous for its spectacular views, colonial
buildings, hot springs, and new national park, Tapanti, which has over 150
rivers within. Here, waterfalls and trees abound, wildlife is prolific,
and the terrain is rugged. We'll
be doing some serious riding in the valley, most notably within the many
coffee bean plantations which dot the mountainous landscape. Another added
attraction will be a detour trek to Volcano Irazu, the highest active volcano
in Costa Rica. From its summit, it is possible to see both the Pacific and
Caribbean Oceans. |
